M. AmanWirakartakusumah is an Emeritus Professor of Food Science and Technology at Bogor Agricultural University, Indonesia. Since 2011, he has chaired the Committee on Education of the International Union of Food Science and Technology that actively involved in curricula recognition for food science and technology and curricula development for food safety. His interest and involvement in research and education is reflected in his distinguished career at the Bogor Agricultural University, where he served as Rector from 1998 to 2002, and held positions as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty and Director of Research Center. He is also the Scientific Director of ILSI SEA Region and has served in this role for more than 10 years. Prof. Wirakartakusumah was the Indonesia Ambassador to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) based in Paris, France from 2004 to 2008. He is a Member of the Indonesian Academy of Sciences, the Indonesian Association of Food Technologists, and the Indonesian Food and Nutrition Society. In 2003, Prof. Wirakartakusumah was elected as a Fellow of the International Academy of Food Science and Technology, the International Union of Food Science and Technology. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in Food Science with minor in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, USA in 1977 and 1981, respectively.
